I have done so much searching I have over loaded my brain!! So please, dont tell me to search for this.
Since I want to get into one of the Dog Sport games, I know I am not supposed to correct the pup for wanting to chew on me. I have MANY toys on hand to give him when he starts chewing on me (mouthing but with razor teeth). He is not trying to hurt me or be agressive, he just wants to play. He is 14 weeks. He is wicked smart. He is a Bouvier, not a GSD if that makes any difference. He comes from lines that are specifically bread for KNVP and Ring Sport. At 8 weeks, this guy was the most ball crazy and tug of war dog I have ever seen at any age!
He has picked up the "come" in about 10 minutes and was "housebroken and crate trained in just a couple of days. I know if I give Him a firm command and shake the scruff of the neck, I can train him not to bite me or the wife and grown kids. Since I dont want to train him in any way not to bite, what do I do?
Thanks!!

You can correct him for this by giving him a firm scruff shake and then redirect him to a toy that he is allowed to bite. What you are teaching him is that there are things he can bite and that you are not one of them.
Because of the grandkids being around lots of the time, my GSD isn't alowed to mouth ANYBODY at home. It hasn't seem to dampen his drive on the field at all. Correct and redirect! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
That will be great news for the wife and kids!! I have always played very rough with my dogs! I kind of let myself go and actually feel like one of the dogs sometimes! If they bite me, no problem, I bite back!! Since I have gotten this new pup, I am trying to do everything within my ability to do the "right" things with him. I had never known about starting out at 8 weeks and slowly moving forward. I always just considered them "puppy dumb" until they were about 5-7 month old. I did very little other than "come" and "no" back then.
Even THIS old dog can learn new tricks!

The "let em bite anything/everything" is great if your goals are strictly a sport dog that can be kenneled when not training, but that's not what my dogs are all about. The key to early puppy training is Motivational. Make it a game to learn. Ed has a bazillion great tapes. Your Puppy, 8wks to 8 months, Bite Training your Puppy, Building Drive, Focus and Grip, etc, etc. I've got about a dozen and still wanting more.
