I was looking at a litter of Mal pups and on one of the males that I liked,as I was running my hand across his belly, I noticed that his "belly button" was an outy .I guess thats poor terminology, but anyway it wasnt big or gross or anything at all like that but I just wondered if that was normal or if it means anything at all?
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
It does sound like a small hernia - amazingly both my gs had them as pups - and though they can be quite worrysome they shouldnt be, as they are merely the delayed closure of the area where the umilical cord was attatched to the pup.
Here is a good article explaining it it more detail and how the help with the closure.
My brothers Weim had the same thing. It was actually rather large in my opinion, but the Vet insisted on not doing anything saying it would fix itself. The dog is now 9 months and it is almost closed up.
