We just got magic GSD, with a very good temperament, but I am all out of ideas, so I would like some pointers: on the down, (please not the Van Camp method with the treats.)
The situation is this, we get the dog to sit next to the handler, then we give the dog a stay, walking out facing the dog on lead, holding the lead – 1.2 meter – then we give the dog the down command, bringing the right hand with a arm fully extended over the shoulder and down, if the dog does not comply we do this again after a reprimand command, and step on the choke chain, punching the dog down. This technique worked for use.
But this boy is very strong he picks you up, growls, or bites the boot and then jumps up on your shoulders looking you straight in the face.
Reinier - your dog has it right. The only mistake he is making is to not shake you hard enough to shake some sense into you. :-) I don't know where you learned how to train dogs - but its sure ass end backwards.
Did you ever hear about the learning stage: corrections stage: proofing stage? There needs to be a dummy stage for thos people who refuse to listent to sound answers to theit questions.
You have a lot to learn and it sounds like you have just the right dog to take you through the process!!!
