I went out to watch Bill Kullas training and he had some nice dogs, there was one showline there that was a bit of a poser but he was geting a decent amout of drive out of the dog. I was out there in January so I bet I only saw some diehards, but he seems to be a good helper/trainer. I have not worked my dog with him, not for any other reason then I have a friend that traines at My Bodygaurd kennels in Marengo, Carlos their helper is very good but they are a business not a club, they do have some very nice dogs working there. It is $25 per session so it may be a little on the expensive side. Northern Il SCH club Trains Tue, Thur, and Sat, they have a great helpler I didn't get a chance to see too many of their dogs work (I just kind of stumbled on them on thursday night) their weekday training is pretty informal but they are a not for profit club so it's pretty cheap to train with them. There were no club officers there on thursday, I was told to show up sat mornings around 8:00 at the lake county fair grounds to get signed up, meet officers exct... I couldn't make it yesterday.
I would second a recommendation for Bill's club. He is an excellent trainer and will do his best with any dog that you bring. However, he trains for the highest levels of competition and will tell you quickly if your dog isn't up to that level. I would train with him now (even though my dog is a showline and never destined to win the BSP), but he moved to Marengo and is now a 1 1/2 hr drive minimum to get there so I've been training with Adrian Moreno's French Ring club.
If you bring a showline there, be prepared to catch a little well meaning flack, but they are good people who I found very willing to help. And if your dog can work it doesn't matter what lines it is from.
I live in the city of Chicago- and have a 9-5 job downtown. Am I able to do Schutzhund an hour away from the city if I can only do weekends or are there weekday night training sessions that start around 7 or 8 way out there?
