Last night my 9 week old gsd bit her tail so much that it was bleeding this morning. It was enough blood to make a puddle in her crate and soak her tail. It stopped after awhile, but was kinda scary. Was she just bored, or what? Anyway, I got some stuff to put on it to make it not hurt, make her not bite it anymore, flies won't get to it, etc.
Why would she do that, and how do I make sure she doesn't do it again?
Not sure why she would do it? Has she been getting enough exercise lately? Sometimes dogs do this out of boredom or frustration. I would teach the "off" command and every time you see her do it tell her "off". Otherwise, is she itching anywhere else??
I would only presume somethinig was bothering her. Maybe a rash, itch or something of that nature!! I highly doubt it is anything behaviourly... it must be physical/medical
I did see her scratching/biting a little bit on her side. Could it be part of the detox from switching to raw? We've had her on it for a little over a week.
