I need some advice. I have a very high drive 12 w/o male shepherd. I cannot get him to let go of my clothing. When I take him out of the kennel (4-5 x/day) he will jump up to grab my clothing and does not want to let go.He will sit for me so I can remove my clothing from his mouth, then he will grab it again. If I block him, he will run to the side or behind me so he can grab on again. For this reason, I cannot even put him on a leash for a short walk. I can sometimes give him something to chew on (rawhide or chew hooves) and that will work for a few minutes, but he will again return to playing tug of war with my clothing (changing positons for a better grip if he needs to). When I hold him in my lap, he continues to bite my shirt or mouth my arm. Grabbing the scruff of his neck and shaking him does not work, he gets a better grip and bites harder. He will leap off of the ground to get a better grip. Any suggestions?
Hehehe, I have a Mal pup who does exactly the same thing. I actually think it is cool LOL - I personally just learnt to move faster, after a few (10 or so) mins he calms down a little. Failing that, have a little puppy tug at the ready to keep his mouth occupied!

My puppy did the some thing too! Just pop a kong or ball in her mouth and clothes are spared <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> When Vita grabbed my clothes i told her no and gave her a ball on string to play with, it went over by itself.
I would try at minimum to give any "No" corrections (unless necessary) and try to divert his/her attention to a ball on string or prey object.
My Eagle Eichenluft demon <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> gets plenty of exercise but she feels deemed to clamp onto your shoes and growl and pull. I keep something in my pocket such as a rag or ball on string to divert her attention into of any "no" commands that may make her thing biting is inappropriate.
Of course that's just my methodology here.
Use what works best for you depending on what you want your puppy to be later (work vs. pet)
