This months issue of Sch USA has an article from the Treasurer indicating a declining membership and finacial concerns. I have my opinions why this is the case, I wonder what the membership thinks.
Well, I've been a long term ( over two decades ) SchH USA member, but I keep it up mainly for the magazine.
When it came time for my SchH club to form, we went with DVG as most of us had breeds other than GSD's and SchH USA is a breed club, when all is said and done. But sometimes their emphasis doesn't seem to be for promoting the GSD breed or SchH to the general public, which is vital if either is to grow and thrive.
The Paul Meloy days of leadership within SchH USA left a very bad taste in my mouth towards that organization. They have a long way to go to regain a lot of folks confidence, in my opinion.
And Lord....don't even get me started about the GSDCA/ WDA. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
SchH as a sport is going to diminish and reality based protection dog sports are going to grow unless the leadership of the main SchH organizations start working together and putting their ego's and turf battles aside.
This link gives some background about the state of the various SchH organizations and how things came to be in the state that they're in today. It's a good read and worth your time to look at, I promise you.

This WAS worth reading. I have a question that will sound ignorant to most of the registered members here, and it IS ignorant, but it's sincere: Is is actually true that the AWDF holds AKC-type "beauty shows" (conformation events, or shows, open to dogs with no working title at all, and therefore, potentially, no working experience at all)? Or did I misunderstand?
