i´m trying to train my gsd for drug detection i´ve been reading alot, but i still have some questions on the first steps.
1.- After i washed the tennis balls so i can put them in the emmunition can they still have a rubber odor. is that ok?
2.- Can i put the odor on the tugs instead of puting drugs inside the tug.
There are several people on this board who can almost give you a blueprint to train a drug dog. I see by your profile you say you are a Federal Agent. I would think your agency would either have or could borrow the services of a trainer to assist you and your dog if this is for official use. No?
ikor:
Thanx for your rely, yes the dog is for official use in order for me to get a trained dog from my agency i have to move from state and go to mexcico city than take my dog to either to border with Guatemala or the u.s.a. and start working in that area right now i´m not ready to move that´s way i´m trying to train my own dog besides that i love dogs its a personal challange. Aside from my personal reasons it would be great if you can point me out to the right direction with the people i should write with
Anyone that is into narcotics dog training, is not going to want to write a "How To" on a web board because of the nature of the work. What agency are you from?
I find your situation intresting as most Law Enforment Agencies at the Federal Level would not allow a dog to be used in service on a noraml basis unless it was trained by a reconized authority in the area of Narcotics training.
i work for the Policia Federal Preventiva in this agency there are several branches one of them is the Policia Federal de Caminos, this would be something like the high way police, only that my agency covers all the federal high ways in my country (Mexico) like i said before it is alot of trouble to get a trained dog. i´m trying to do my part with the war against drugs........
Apart from all of that i did not ask like for the top secrets in dog training it was just a couple of simple questions, i would say, guess i´ll stick with the manuals and the videos and the people i know down here
