Hi, this is my first post here. I have been searching and reading here at the board and the main site for about a month now. I just brought home my 8 wk old akita puppy home. I also have a 2 1/2 yr old son. Being a mom, I am trying to take the approach that my dog is a baby and that much of this stage will pass with proper direction.
I have a few questions though. When my son was born the amount of online information on human baby growth and development was overwhelming. This site is the only one that I felt was a "good" one for dogs. Where can I find other sites that has good searchs and info for when I hit the "oh man, what does THIS mean" parts? For instance, I had difficultly finding a puppy teething chart for when they lose teeth and what order they come in (something on every parenting site). I have owned dogs before but it's been a long while. I tried my best to get up to speed before Shiro came home but I feel that I am nowhere near where I need to be in general dog/puppy knowledge. Funny, it's how I felt 2 1/2 yrs ago...
I have already purchased "Purely Positive Training" and have several akita breed books. But being a mom, my time is not mine and I have limited time when I need to find information and online, bookmarked sites are a godsend! So is there a Dr. Sears for puppies? Thanks in advance and if this has been asked before, sorry!
Wow!
If every pet owner took the time to read and research dogs like Barb here the pet world would be a *much* better place!
Just when I'm getting a little down over all the dog bite discussions and such, someone comes along and renews my faith in mankind in general. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Thanks Connie! My choice of search words would appear to be why I kept getting dud sites. I was going to puke if I saw one more puppymiller classified site.
Will, I do my best! I always like to know what I've gotten myself into.
