Unfortunatley I dont think thats doctored...I have seen a welsh terrier come into the animal shelter like that. Thats when tenacity isnt a good trait to have...
By the way, I think that is a Bull Terrier, not an APBT.

My daughter's Border Terrier dug went into a hole in a fallen tree after a porcupine two years ago and came out looking about one-fourth that bad.........bad enough. (And after he was pulled out, looking like that, it was all she could do to keep him from going back in!)
I remember that the emergency vet bill was in the upper hundreds.

Border Terrier with a faceful: I just called my daughter (in the Berkshires) and asked how her BT's face was dealt with after he went after a porcupine a couple of years ago. She said that it was a long process which the vet categorized as surgery, that it required general anesthesia, and that it did cost somewhere between $600 and $900, as she recalls.
I agree with that being a Bull terrier. Not a Pit. I talked with a woman from Idaho that has retired more than one working terrier because of them going crazy for stickpigs once the've been stuck bad. I'm seen plenty of earthdogs that get crazy for skunks also. Seems like common sense and gameness don't seem to mix well with.

Bob,
That's what my daughter is afraid of -- her BT was so mad when he got that faceful of quills that I guess the adrenaline overrode all the pain and he was wild to get right back in there after the porcupine.
Connie, your daughter has good reason to worry. I originally did earthwork with Border Terriers. I retired them and got my first JRT, because of the Border's willingness to take punishment. Probably the sweetest of all the terriers with people and even other dogs, but go for broke deadly on quarry. As crazy as the JRTs are, they (usually) work as a baying dog underground.
