I was lucky enough to be working near the breeders laura and randy at Von Zoeller kennels. Max was the largest of the pups and when laura let them out he went on his own way not botherd by me or anything else. I liked the independent spirit and not being afraid to explore everything. I have had max at home now for almost two weeks and things are plenty exciting for him and us. I have a 2yr old female great dane, 8wk chihuahua and three cats so let me tell you things are going a 100mph in my house. I did get to see the sire(Barny Al-Zdor) and dam(Flame z Danaru)very impressive dogs. Also i liked the way they took care of the kennel and the dogs they own. Even tho i have only had max for a short time i can tell he is intelligent and will be a good friend for the family. Max has been by my side since the day i picked him up from the kennel, inside or outside if i move he moves then when i stop he lays right beside me.
Congrats Jeff! Both Barny and Flame are nice dogs. I have witnessed them both. Barny produces nice pups when bred to a nice female. I actually have an upcoming breeding out of him. Nice dog. Too bad he had some pretty harsh owners prior to Laura and Randy.
The good thing is it didn't affect him significantly ;-)
Sounds like you're really enjoying your pup. Barny is a good choice, we're looking at him for possible future use with our Brawnson daughter (in a year or two...hopefully he'll still be around).
i have a male czech import out of the eqidius kennel, laura at von zoeller get him for me. i love him, i recommend them to anyone who wants good service and honest people with good dogs.
I didnt get to close to barny, laura was telling me about how his previous owner treated him but i did get a chance to pet flame and she was wonderful. One of the biggest selling points to me was how nice laura and randy kept the kennel and seemed to be very good with the dogs. Since i knew whatever pup i got would be a house dog and family companion i wanted to get a pup from someone that didnt look at the dogs as just a business. Before i went to the kennel to get max i watched barny's and other dogs video's on the net. I didnt get to the kennel till after dark and it was also raining, i walked through the door of the kennel and met flame face to face and i will admit that i kinda froze for a second. After watching the video's i wasnt going to take any chances since i knew there wasnt any chance of me out running her. Max is a great dog and hope we can have several years of fun together.
How do i know if im getting a good shutzhund trainer? There are several in the St.Louis area but im not sure which is a good choice. Has anyone heard of tom rose at doghouse kennels? Also im thinking about buying a female pup that i might want to bread to max in a couple years. Do i want to only look at other czech pups and which kennels? If i do get a female and breed them is shutzhund training of the parents important to potential buyers?
