I have finally got my pups to heel next to my leg when walking them. With absolutely no tension on the leash ( except for those usual instances when we bump into stray cats )
However, stepping on their toes is a problem, what do I do?
How old are your pups at this point? How are you training them to heel?
In general, they are crowding you and not respecting your space at this point. I usually walk very messy (without actually hurting the dog) making them step away on their own so that they don't get stepped on. If you always move away from them because you are stepping on their paws, then you are giving up your space and they will continue to crowd you.
