Yup,
I am personally involved in a super fun event call, "Cant depend on snow sled dog race"
Wouldn't ya know PETA has to sick their noses in. Read about it here
Peta says write the county and protest but I wrote your county and told them they should have the race and why. Maybe that will help them in still having it.
Dogs don't think pulling sleds is cruel & no one forces them to do it. How do you force a dog to pull a sled? In public?

Alison,
Thank you! I have also written to our local paper, The Reporter. I personally know the man putting on this event. His dogs are awesome and love to pull!
It's what they do best.
Try to supply the anti-PETA links that we have listed through out the PETA threads in your letters to the media and town officals, it always helps to expose the PETA morons for the extremitists that they are.
A couple of the more outlandish quotes taken directly from the PETA website usually shows normals folks just how weird and out of touch the PETA crackpots are.
I sent the county an email and sent PETA a nasty email.I urge everyone to do the same, this is crazy and will only lead to bigger things.A small battle in the war against idiots.

Ya, thats Mike. He is very cool and not a bit intimidated. I've been talking with him and his wife quite often and they love the publicity. But the more emails and letter against PETA we get the better.

Well, if sled dogs shouldn't pull anymore then by heaven how can we allow Labs to retrieve??? How can we stand by while these wonderful dogs run through open fields and swim dangerous bodies of water AGAINST THEIR WILL, in search of objects to bring back to their uncaring slavedriving masters?
That's not all! What about the ethical quagmire surrounding the unfortunate border collie? Forcing those poor canines to run around a field rounding up livestock is absolutely inhumane. Not to mention the HORRIFIC mental and physical toll this so-called sport takes on the sheep, of course. And will someone please think of the grass??? All that stomping around by feet and hooves!! Can't you hear the screams???
I wouldn't send PETA an email. That gives the idiots YOUR email addy. No telling what they would send to F*^% up your computer if you dissagree with them.
The first expierience I had with those idiots was at a terrier den trial. They said we were stressing the rats by letting the dogs bark at them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
