no posts since feb? what's up with that? lol. anyway out here in california this breeds popularity in PSD circles is growing everyday. i'm just starting to work my first one after two GSD's and while i never compare my own dogs to each other, i'm rather enjoying his, shall we say "zest" for the work. so far he seems to have the best of both worlds. when he's working he's crazy driven, but when he's not working, he's very laid back, social, and affectionate. i know some pundits may harp in that those behaviors are indicative of a dog conditioned to the "training field", but i know better having worked him in a few different environments that he is not familiar with. anyhow, it seems like this breed is here to stay and i for one am glad...
If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much... |

OK, I'll admit it!!! i have a female HH out of Marco Pegge bred to an Arras Pegge daughter. She is my wife's running companion. But, don't go spreading it around. I might get embarrased among my GSD friends.

hmmm, Kevin, when my wife goes out for a walk or jog, I certainly don't let her go out with my Rat Terrier, so are you saying that this is the dog you trust your wife to go out running with verses your other oh, I don't know, GSD's??!!
That'll put you in the fire, instead of your feet, so we'll refrain from asking you to ACTUALLY answer that one

Chris, if I were to hazard two guesses...1) Kevin's wife is a super fast long distance runner, and "the other dogs" can't keep up with her...they over heat, the toungue begins to reach the ground, serving as a bridge between ground grime and the actual head as they drag it along, sort of tripping over it...
2) "The other dogs" are boring...

Not exactly, she wanted something that reminded her of the Groendel she had when we first got married 23 years ago. Couldn't go that route so this is where we landed. Quite by accident actually, a friend had some pups that were essentially rescued and I took two to place. One got placed with here as it turned out. reminded my wife of her old dog. My choice...would have been a CJ daughter for her.
Nice little dog. Yeah I trust her with the dog, but the dog has no protection training and only "pet" obedience work. She's a very ferrel animal and uses her mouth to communicate a bit much. It was a hassle to keep her from pinching the kids and their friends. She come up and goose you just to get a reaction. Too bad she's not a GSD it would be clear in her mind when to use her mouth.
To muddy that waters even more, I worked a big HH on the road for a while, a super tough animal with tons of drive.
