Now my Pup Matrix will be almost 8 months old. Two days back on Saturday eve after I noticed that his back left ankle was very swollen. Next day he was limping and little bunny hopping. Today I took him to the vet, found that there is an infection with pus in it.
The Vet drained out the little pus and gave him double dose of CEPHALEXIN injection and also prescribed 750 mg of CEHPHALEXIN TABELTS (Pup weighs 72 lbs). Tomorrow I have to go again to take out the bandage. Vet does not want to x-ray him if he sees improvement with the infection but said that if the pup is still limping and bunny hopping he will do an x-ray.
1. Does anyone have had similar situation?
2. Should I take my pup for any kind of walks/training? If not, should I reduce his food?
3. Any supplements that may help him?
ACKK!!
Well, this sounds mostly like a wound ( no matter what the cause - bug bite, scrapping against a fence, etc. ) so the treatment that the Vet did is proper.
I'd rest your boy and avoid exercise beside potty breaks for now.
The Cephalexin has good coverage of the microbes that cause soft tissue infections, but it'll take a bit of time to work.
As said before, Vet had bandaged his left back leg and this morning he took it out. As per the Vet, the swelling was little less. I couldn't see. But what do I know apart from the market and politics At least I am little relaxed now to be able to joke.
There is still pus and he still limps little bit. I have another one on Saturday to see improvements.
