I would like to get some opinions on using the e-collar to make corrections for marking while tracking. I’m trying to avoid any type of correction coming from the tracking lead and this particular dog is non responsive to verbal corrections as he and his handler are newly paired.
probably everyone in the world knew this but me.....i just recently learned that there are e-collars with a setting that makes a noise/click much like a clicker and can be used to mark a correct behavior, but without the shock.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers
Have this handler change the way he walks this dog. Have him take the dog for walks and tell him to only allow the dog to piss and shit where the handler wants him to. Have him use the SAME WORD to praise the place he wants him to go (I use OUTSIDE it could be anything)
When he does this he should also use the same term to stop him from peeing anjd shitting where he does not want him to go with PHOOIE OUTSIDE -
He should run the dog through the conditioning program for the collar. Once the dog understands the handler praising with GOOD OUTSIDE - he can use LOW STEM for PHOOIE OUTSIDE -
Teach all of this off the track. When the training is correct the dog will respect the voice correction on the track
