I'm honestly not a good person to answer that. I just add the egg (I feed the whole egg, shell and all) periodically. I don't give eggs daily and I try to work out my diet over the course of a week or so in contrast to a per day or per feeding thing. I do the same thing with sardines and mackerel...but I do go easy on them because they're very oily, and like you've already noticed...too much can make dogs a little runny! Oh, and I give my dogs fresh eggs from a neighbor who raises chickens. I honestly don't know if I would notice a difference if I gave the white eggs that are mass-produced or not, but I just think the food our local chx are fed is better in general.
And my GSD still has to have a lot of the fat removed from birds...he's just always been sensitive to bird fat/skin. Don't know why...marrow bones and beef fat don't phase him at all but leaving all of the skin on the birds is not good for him. I actually had a rough time switching him to homemade raw and it turned out that bird fat was the issue. Go figure. (He does the best on rabbit, actually). The Corgi can eat it like it's nothing with no issues but if he gets so much as a sip of milk he's lethal-smelling from the rear.
Thanks, Amber. This is all so encouraging. It looks like just about everybody has had to do a lot of experimentation when they do raw.
I want everything to be OK immediately. Patience, Nora, patience.
Also I haven't had a puppy in about 20 years. Forgot what they are like. My old boxer died a few years ago and by the time they get old, all it takes is a head nod from them or from you to know what they want and even for a correction.
This thread is so long now, I'm going to retire it again.
Unless anyone knows the nutritional amount of the egg.
I am guessing that is would equal about an ounce of protein.
So if anybody knows, let me know. And if not, I'll start a new thread with anything.
