It depends on how rural you are. When the driveway is 1/2 mile long, off of a gravel road, and I'm working outside 1/4 mile or more from the house it's pretty easy.

I'm extremely rural = but is more awkward than it is for the guys!!

I agree and that is one aspect of the male anatomy that I do envy. The world is their urinal.

We’re on back roads and in the woods all the time. Often out in the morning and home in the evening. Places we’d be more likely to see a Sasquatch than a washroom, but you learn all kinds of tricks. And like marker training, the more do it, the better you get at it.

I’m not an environmentalist by any stretch but I hug a lot of trees. I like the old growth jack pines we have around here… they have that bark with the cracks in it, great for grip.

Yes Paul, really.

Malamutes are known for long howling sessions. It’s comforting. Usually when they greet you after being away you get an entire diatribe of how their day went. This can go on for a long time if you let it.

The urine marking on human scent is also a common territorial trait in a lot dogs, especially your more dominant ones. It could be any number of things but not a wolf trait I’ve heard of and most definitely not a trait unique to wolves.

And as far as the paws, generally big dogs have big feet. I knew a Great Dane with enormous feet, a bit out of proportion for his body, they were huge. Wolves are kind of unique in their length though.

And don’t worry about it; folks are misled all the time. It sounds like you respected this pup for the gentleman he was and I’m sure he appreciated that. If it’s any consolation, when the wolf activists and more knowledgeable folks start asking the right questions, these breeders lose credibility pretty quickly. Any dollar signs for future litters goes down the tube really fast.

As well Paul, something you need to be aware of - any advocating you or wife did on this dog’s behalf, in the wolf hybrid context, about what a gentle, easy going guy he was, led those people to believe that a wolf hybrid would make a wonderful pet. They are often very beautiful dogs and you can see how easy it is to give an unsuspecting future pet owner the wrong impression. They may end up with the real deal and this is where the problems start.

And yes Tim!! That’s my Vincey boy. We’d been hiking for few hrs and took a break for some lunch. He was feeling quite content and goofy and hubby had the camera handy.

Actually I was referring to peeing on wolves. It can get you into legal trouble in most states/countries, not to mention killed. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
