I've buried the dogs I could and my last house of almost 40 yrs had a number of graves.
I always put a plant in those spots ans was able to take a lot of those with me 10 yrs ago when were moved.
Last yr Thunder was the very first dog I've ever had cremated.
Still haven't decided on a spot for that.
I had buried my cats in our garden in Switzerland and planted bushes or trees near the graves. But then we had to move to another canton, where of course we had cats again and did the same thing with the ones who died.
One cat we had cremated, the one who died short time before we emigrated to Brazil. We took his ashes with us. He is still in a drawer of my bedside table! Didn't have the guts to bury him, as we don't know if some day we will leave Brazil and then we wouldn't be able to take him with us. Didn't know i was so sentimental.

Ramona Quimby me too!
Also the boxcar children, and with my upbringing, a boxcar would have been heaven!
Also the Borrowers, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys..ah the good classics. Someone needs to do a book trading!
How did I neglect to mention any of those!? All on my "re-read" rotation! Googling The Borrowers, I see that there is one more than the three I know and have. There's also a Borrowers Avenged (many years later).
And Tracey, I looked up that NCIS "Seek" episode ... wow, that looks good! Don't know how I missed a K9 episode.

I re-watched one of my favourite NCIS vids over the weekend - god, I love Mark Harmon! - it was an episode called 'Seek' with a bomb dog called Dex.
I had run out of tissues by the time the credits rolled!
That one made me cry too.
There is a Bones episode with Cesar Millan and a Malinois that was involved in a dog fighting ring. I can't bear to watch that one again - I cried my eyes out over it ...
Connie, I got the entire Black Stallion series of books as a kid and I still re-read them when I get a chance

Connie, you've got to watch it, just have tissues handy, I'm not kidding!

Another serious of books that I read as a kid were those by Albert Payson Terhune.
"Lad A Dog" and many others that were about Collies for the most part.

Oh, the Collie breeder! I hadn't thought about him in ages ... I always meant to read something by him.
Great Dog Stories is the one I saw one time but sadly did not grab.

Another set I love and actually just re read a couple of them recently is the James Herriot books.
They are about his adventures as a county vet in England.
Very entertaining!
