Very nice!
In the first video did you put the second scent out between time that you were on screen or did you just bring him off after the first find and then return for the other?
My wife helped my put the video of Trooper working in the basement. I'll try and get something with the old man Thunder in the yard. I imprinted him on birch in a matter of 3-4 sniffs.
Obviously no proofing done on it but he just "gets it".
There was an ORT here a couple of weeks ago about 30 miles from the house and I didn't even know about it till afterwards.
"I put both hides out at the same time. I am training her to leave it and not go back to a hide if she already responded to it".
That's what I was guessing when I saw it.
That's an issue I haven't addressed yet. If I try and put out more then one it's a must that I pick it up before sending him again.
I'll work on the wife to take some video and then put it on Youtube or something. I can just about turn this new fangled typewriter on much less move "stuff" to it.
It's a risk when training it. You definitely want the dog very solid in understanding before you start calling them off odor intentionally. I use leave it and only that command and recall trump odor.
I'm sure you understand that there is a balance there and a danger that you may confuse the dog.
Understood!
Thunder always was and is solid as a rock but Trooper could probably be confused by it. He's a much more reactive dog then Thunder.
He's one of those dogs that has a hard time grasping that I may be giving a command to Thunder yet If I give Trooper a command he obeys and Thunder totally understands I'm not talking to him at the time.
