I'd like to have James Taylor for dinner.
And Frank Sinatra if he wasn't dead.

Oh yes, "dead" is fine!
The assumption is that no one is dead.
That's very interesting about James Taylor! About both of them!
And for some reason, your post makes me think of Kris. I imagine stories from Kris Kristofferson might be up-all-night fascinating.
Or Johnny Cash.
James Taylor and Frank Sinatra. I'd like to have them both at the same dinner.

I admit to not reading all 63 pages, but if I was going to cook dinner and converse with a musician, it would have to be 1 of the following 2 guys:
Smokey Robinson - for all the stories he could tell about the music industry and the formation of Motown.
Victor Wooten - because he is my musical idol and just a really special human being.
MHO: Yes to both!
(VW has a music camp, I have heard.)
And no need to read all the pages ..... I think we can assume that just about everyone has been represented!
It's an epic thread.
(I show 125 pages. Must be a setting.)
Connie, the depth of your knowledge astounds me. Most people have no idea who Victor is, even if they know of Bela Fleck. Listening to him changed the way I play. He is an outstanding guy. I have been to a couple of seminars and spoken to him at length about everything under the sun. His camp is a music / wilderness affair, and I hope to go someday.

I'm just old, David.
They used to open for people like Curtis Mayfield and, later, Eric Burdon. And they were kids (and I do mean kids: children!).
A wilderness/music camp?
That I had NOT heard! I read something about a waiting-list music camp, but didn't know anything about it.

Who among the musical luminaries we have posted here, in these 125 pages!, would you want most to invite to dinner? I saw that question on a talk show this morning. Who would you like to have to dinner and a nice conversation?
I admit I haven't perused the entirety of this thread, so I don't know who's been posted and who's not, but I like Betty's idea of having dinner with James Taylor. I would also have to add:
George Harrison
Tammy Wynette
Emmylou Harris
