Another serious of books that I read as a kid were those by Albert Payson Terhune.
"Lad A Dog" and many others that were about Collies for the most part.
"Lad, a Dog" !!! Another one of my FAVES
And OF COURSE:
"All Creatures Great and Small"
"All Things Bright and Beautiful"
"All Things Wise and Wonderful"
"The Lord God Made Them All"...
I own the whole DVD set of the BBC series as well -- And have we mentioned:
"Born Free"
"Living Free"
"Forever Free"
all by Joy Adamson, along with the film of "Born Free"...
Which also reminds me of, "Ring of Bright Water", by Gavin Maxwell & the film too !!!

Candi, that's what I say to my hubby every day! He promised, but it didn't happened yet. I can't do it myself, because he's got the admins rights. Grrrrr!

Don't have it!
So I gathered
You can probably pick them up from Amazon for a song -- Seasons 1, 2 & 3 are the best ones, IMHO ... It would make a GREAT holiday gift for you, Bob !!!

I had the afternoon off so I went into the "junk room" and dug up my old Black Stallion books. Spent the afternoon reading one of them and the evening reading another one. Now I need a few more days off so I can read the rest of them.
Love, love love this thread!

Did you read The Black Stallion and Satan? Or which ones?
I agree, Debbie ... I love love love this thread too!
And guess what I am going to start reading tonight, which I received very fast from Amazon Prime ...
I just ordered the Townsend edition of Lad, a Dog.

I read The Black Stallion and Son of the Black Stallion.
I have the whole series except for 2 of them. I still need The Black Stallion's Blood Bay Colt and The Black Stallion's Ghost so I'm going to see if I can find them on Amazon.
I would love to get my nieces interested in these books.

Oh yes, two excellent ones .... also, they are two of the three I would choose if I were just starting the Black Stallion books (for your nieces ... ) -- the other would be The Black Stallion Returns.
I have not read Blood Bay Colt or Ghost .... I know that Ghost came way after the ones I had as a young kid, but I don't know how I missed Blood Bay Colt!
