I took both dogs to a park yesterday and had Zuki pull the cart 3/4 of the way with Samuel. If I would have let her she would have LOVED to do another 5-10 miles I never had to work much with her getting used to the cart and Samuel(my 7yr old brother) loves riding.
Keiko.............on the other hand is going to need a lot of training for pulling the cart. I tried putting him in and he really flipped out. I did it with Samuel so it wouldn't rattle but he still thought it was going to get him for sure. Same with it empty. So I plan on many walks with him, me pulling the cart on one side and Keiko on the other.

For the last few days I have been working with BIndi (terrier rescue) on recalls with wait as she returns to me, then asking for downs and sits and will start asking for stands soon. Today Bindi went to school and as usual she did really well. They even used her for a demonstration. Her only draw back is that she is very cautious and she likes to try and guess what I am going to ask her to do before I ask her to do it. So, I have had to mix things up so that she doesn't think there is a routine to follow.
They keep asking me if I am considering putting Bindi in Rally Obedience. I have never been involved in that before and do not know the cost to compete. Right now my husband who has been ill has been blessed with early retirement, so our budget is not as full as it was. So I wonder if anyone has competed or knows the cost to compete?
Then I am still working with my Cody. He loves to work so much, I am hoping now that my husband is home and can help me with work on the property that I can have more time to train Cody and Terra. I thought Cody would enjoy agility so we will see how that works for him. He likes our little getto course I set up in their dog yard.
Then Terra, as soon as she goes to the vet at the end of the month and her blood is normal, I plan on getting her out and training her, walking her, etc. I do not take her out right now due to her immune system and red blood cell problem. Plan on the basics with her.
Love dog training! I am hoping even thought we are on retirement I can still take classes and Lord willing, get involved in dog sports depending on the gifts my dogs display.
Loved reading everyones input on what you are doing.
Love Sharon

I put Hobbes in the new dorsal hitch for the wagon today. It only took him a half of a block to get used to the feel of it. I also refreshed him on a his carting commands for a 1/2 mile or so but he still wanted to do more when we quit for the day. Man, I haven't seen him this happy since the wagon broke down a week ago. Hobbes has to be totally addicted!

Worked on recalls today and sitting while I kept walking. (I don't know what the proper term is.)
Also, still trying to get her to sit straight after we do a return to heel position by going around behind me from front. I've been working in the house alongside a wall so I can reward straight sits but when we don't have a wall, Sasha tends to swing her hind end out. We'll keep working on this.

Worked on whistle recalls from stationary and while in motion off chasing the ball in fetch she does it well but does not like to.
Holding long downs under distraction but mainly did a lot of playing.

Sit, down, stand without subtle body movement, shell game, out means out, PVC bring...he was pretty spastic today for some reason, oh yeah he's a Dutchie. He held the pipe but was whiny and pushy...as soon as I backed up he pushed me, I only corrected the chomping which was minimal. Tonight while playing rope tug he but my hand (not intentional) but that means game over, end of fun.

We went to watch our first AKC Obedience and Rally Obedience trial today at a local dog training club to see how well our girl would fit in the competition environment. Didn't see hardly anything we aren't already doing. We just haven't put it all together and had to deal with a whole crowd around you watching and adding pressure and distraction. My hats off to all those who do that.
Ok, that said, we went home and last night and this morning worked on all those things we saw during the trials that we don't do well or at all. Found lots of new skills for us to work on over the winter. This morning, we worked on stopping her in a stand position while I continue walking. She's already got the downs and sits while in motion down. She got that right away. The rest of this week, we're going to work on send outs and polishing up our hand signals.

Greg, go to youtube and put in the obedience and rally class you will be in and watch how it works over and over again. obedience is set and can only be done one way. rally has a 1000000000 ways it can be set up for each class. you will see the good and bad but then how do we learn if by not seeing the way it should not be done. good luck on your training
