LOL...
Candi, I was on Facebook a few minutes ago when I saw a post with a poll in it. The query was, "Name the movie that traumatized you the most when you were a child". All prepared to answer The Birds, and curious to see if anyone else said the same, I started reading the comments.
Wouldn't you know, there were a lot of replies saying Old Yeller and, wait for it... Bambi! One commenter said she recently watched Bambi with her six year old and it was an epic mum fail, as she was up until 2 a.m. with a sobbing child.

I believe it. Bambi was the first movie my mom took me to as a child - maybe 4 years old. I started crying when his mom was shot and we had to leave the theater. I don't remember any nightmares, but I still remember bawling my eyes out all the way home. It is now 4 decades later, and I have NEVER seen the whole movie... and honestly don't really want to...

But I loved Monstro It was the debauched HUMAN corruption of Pleasure Island that frightened me as a child watching "Pinocchio" (the thought of which STILL haunts my dreams as an adult) -- Cartoon animals didn't scare me when I was little ... But dangerous Human drunkards still terrify me, even now

Oh, that's right ... I had almost forgotten those icky Pleasure Island villains.
But Monstro must have seemed real to me. I think I was very young, because it's the earliest really clear memory I have. (Not the movie itself as much as the nightmares.)

Oh, I loved Pinocchio! Don't know how often I read the book. When I was about 9 or 10 yrs old I wrote a spectacle named Pinocchio and we (friends and my brother) performed it for the public! We fixed a poster in front of our house, entry 5 cents.
For the moments when Pinochio lied I had to invent a little helper devil who came and pulled his nose, made out of knead, into the length. But once it fell and the devil had to fix it again.
There appeared some children and 6 adult spectators, whom we didn't know, We had a stormy applause and they all payed us 10-20 cents. We felt incredibly rich. More than ever after until nowadays!
Bambi was also one of my great favorites. We had no TV at that time, I also think the movie came much later, but i devoured the book inumerable times and also other ones of Felix Salten. "Bambis Children", "A Forrest World", "Perry the Squirrel", "...?... Rabbits" and others, I don't remember the names. The titles I named here are my translations from German, don't know the correct English ones.
