Elvis was in concert 3 times here. I saw him twice. The first time he was here in 57 and I was in 7th grade. The ((shudder, shudder)) nuns told us we'd be expelled if we went to see him. I didn't have the coin otherwise I probably would have finished grade school in the Public School system.
2nd time he was here he was still the Skinny Elvis. It was a great concert.
3rd time he was the fat Elvis. Sad to see.
In his first movie, "Love Me Tender", he dies in the end. As we were leaving we were stepping over girls rolling on the movie house floor crying an wailing like banshees. That was sooo cool!
My daughter's still love him as do all 5 of the grand kids.
Connie, in speaking of sing alongs do you remember when Steve Allen would recite just the words to songs? The sounded like so much dribble when he did that. He hated the "modern day" songs of the 50s -60s and he made you understand why. Of course you were just a baby then.
I went looking for the original Badfinger version of this song, only to find it unavailable due to some copyright dispute. What I DID find is a diva giving it a pretty good go...
Love the original song although I believe it was a British group that did the original that I remember.
I think Mariah Carey has a great voice but most of her songs sound like she's singing while she's trying to crap a peach seed.
The sound of soul? Not so much!

The only version I remember is the Harry Nilsson one, so you got me curious about Badfinger. I found this three-song compilation. "Without You" starts at 6:11. The video is lousy, but the audio is good.
