Ha! I had forgotten who all was in that movie. And none other than Ali MacGraw sitting next to Kris.
For some reason I was getting that movie mixed up with this one in my mind. They were both a long time ago, and the memory goes......fun to watch those clips, though.

Cheri, if you can put a mile or two on the treadmill to the Smokey and the Bandit song you've got my admiration.
I'm getting out of breath just thinking about it.
While I was perusing movie songs on Youtube, I came across this. It's an old favorite of mine (both the movie and the soundtrack). Great music for relaxation (you know, after you get off the treadmill).
Oh, gosh, those kids look so innocent and shy! Some of the braver ones threw in a couple of twirls! A bygone era, for sure. It was a teensy bit before my time, but I enjoyed watching that.
Bob, while you were doing the stroll, it seems the kids visiting summer resorts in the Catskills with their parents were dancing like this. The movie was supposed to take place in 1963. I dunno......it's a little risqué.

Not in my hood! LOL! I will say about the riskiest dancing was doing "The dog". That got me kicked out of one teen town. Elvis was still taboo to many "old farts".
I love watching "American Graffiti". My high school graduation yr after 5 long years. LOL!
That's about as accurate for that time period as you can get to describe the changes coming.
The song "American Pie" describes the loss of innocence pretty accurately. Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson, Ritchie Valense died in a plane crash just a few yrs earlier then the Viet Nam and drugs hit big.
Before that time drugs were something you didn't see a lot of. Note it wasn't even brought up in the American "Grafiti".
I grew up on the City's North side. It was and still is the high crime rate for the area so we saw more then the burb kids but it was still not common unless you knew where the bad spots were.
During my senior yr I moved from the City's North Side to the North County area. Back then it was night and day from the city. My sisters said the diifference was like comparing Elvis to Pat Boone.
By the time I married in 67 things had changed. Not always for the better IMHO. We just moved out of the old area about 6-7 yrs ago. To many drugs, drive bys, murders, etc way to close to home.
Still in the North County area but a much better area. Life is good!
