Some of them (like from 1950 and that era), I'm not old enough to have heard on the radio in their original incarnations, but I totally remember hearing my mother sing many of them. I'm thinking she was probably 22 or so when that top row was popular, so I got to hear them often enough later to learn most of those lyrics.
We didn't get tv till the early 50s so I recall a lot of those from the huge old radio in the front room. Of course I'm LOTS older then you.
I think the first time I fell in love was when I saw a picture of Patty Page. I loved her songs and that just did me in. I must have been at least 6 or 7.
How could I NOT fall in love with a beautiful woman that sang "How Much Is That Doggy In the Window.
I was about 9 years old and this was the first beach movie I ever saw also. Early stages of sensory overload, all those bikinis, great song, my first crush... I was sweating for days.
Wow, Bob, that site you linked could keep me busy for a very long time! One of the first songs I saw on the list brought back some memories. For my 18th birthday, two of my mom's friends took me to a bar (Mom couldn't come because she was working), where Danny and the Juniors were playing. Of course, they were probably close to being members of the AARP crowd by then, but they still sounded great and I loved "At the Hop."
Greg, yep, I remember both Connie Francis's song and the movie. Of course, I was just a young kid, too.
I'm getting a bad case of cabin fever in this winter weather. Duane took us walking to New Orleans a couple pages back. I'm going to take us about 1,000 miles west of there.
