Back when he was a wee thing, mixing yogurt with just about anything would do the trick.
Now if there's some particularly bland vegetable matter I'd like him to finish (and for which he's not particularly interested), using the juice from canned salmon works well too.
I had an older dog a while back who, as a result of failing kidneys, did not have much of an appetite. I found that clam juice, (there is such a thing) from the market, poured on top of her food, really got her interested in taking in some food.
Kelly, my GSD has always been a dog that will leave his bowl to go investigate whose at the door or if you give him the same meal 4 times in a row. He eats twice a day and is on a raw diet and was on an elimination diet. He has allergies.
What he can eat: venison, buffalo, chicken, salmon, mackeral, sardine and rabbit. I'm about to add ostrich, quail and elk to his diet come Feb. 12th.
So if he needs to eat venison, for example, for a 2nd or 3rd time in a row (due to me running out of a variety for him), I'll sprinkle freeze dried liver dust on it (it's a treat so I'm light on the sprinkling). Also, BRAVO makes Bonus Dust Freeze Dried Salmon which serves the same purpose. You sprinkle on the meal to jazz it up a bit. BRAVO makes a few others as well. Their website is:
