I think Mike has given great advice about allowing the puppy to be a pup and not expecting to much up front. That always leads to dissapointment and frustration which is bound to rub off on your dog. Reward the good things they do as a pup, teach manners and play, play, play. Relationship always comes first. I don't care if it's a person or a dog you must have a good relationship or everything you say and do runs through their interpretational grid which it will anyway. The question I guess is how do you want those feelings and thoughts to come out the other side of that grid as an adult dog when they have formulated their opinions and are now fixed in their thinking. Mmm let me see, compulsion or good communication?
