I truly do hate it when irresponsible dog owners do not want to hear any advice, whatsoever! I'm sick and tired of seeing pitbulls and mutts running loose in the neighborhood, thinking that they own the whole damn block.
I am also sick and tired of dog owners who walk their dogs off-leash. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why risk your dog in getting hit by a car or possibly running into a vicious stray dog?? And what really makes my blood boil is when they don't want to hear any of advice. Usually, what I hear is, "Ohh, he prefers to run free" or, "he doesn't like the leash".
Sooner or later, I end up running into these dogs without their owners, and that's when they get a blast of pepper spray for bugging my dog and I. As stated by someone here, if you give them the boot, so to speak, these same dogs will run away from you. One of the neighborhood dogs actually went running back to its backyard when it saw me coming.

I hear ya!! I see it almost daily! On road that are 80K (50 miles per hour) they rely on their voice to keep their dogs off the road! Idiots!! But like you say, they aren't going to listen to anyone...

No secret, he's a very obedient dog under any circumstance. my other 2 adults need ecollars cause i don't trust them 100% with distractions (animals) and would never want to be caught off guard, so the ecollar is there for a backup when they're off leash. I have no control on my 6 month old! I enjoy doing ob with my dogs so they seem to end up obedient, go figure huh?

Personally I would never risk my dog's life to voice commands. It's not worth it to me.

I'd have to agree there. I just don't believe there is such a thing as having "100% control" over ANY loose creature. No offense Al, I just can't see it.

Lee, are you freaking serious???? LOL! That is stupid-crazy! Unbelievable. The only time I walk my dog off-leash is when we're out in the boonies. He wears an e-collar, and a harness with a handle (comes in handy when you need to quickly get a hold of your dog).
Dogs who walk off-leash not only piss me off, but they also make me, and others nervous. There is not way in telling if an off-leash dog is obedient or not, so I can't trust it. Some ignore us, others want to check us out. Those are the ones that get my shoe size stamped on them. Sorry.

Hey Brad, are you my neighbour? Hah, joking. Although, I have one neighbour with an impeccably well-trained GSD and another with a dog that is constantly off leash and approaching me and my dogs...no berners, though.
I agree with you might not want to get involved with them by personally training their dogs, although I'd be tempted to slip a trainer's businesscard in their back pocket when they're not lookin'. Better yet, put one in their mailbox and make it look like a flyer!
When I encounter the off-leash dogs in my neighbourhood, I put my dog behind me and give a good loud "Agh!". The fact that two pups that will someday be huge are roaming free is a pretty major concern. I might alert AC. Maybe it'll give them a wake-up call.

Oh yeah, I'm serious! I had a woman walk her dog off leash by my house (Ridgeback/Pit Cross) because it was "leash aggressive". I have Invisible Fencing.... I won't bother with what happened next!
I've seen a guy crossing the highway with his lab off leash more than once and another woman with a collie that lets it walk in the ditch down the road (80K).
Maybe I'm a nut, but my dogs are too important to trust anywhere near traffic - no matter how well they are trained... And besides that, how would you feel if someone had to swerve to avoid your dog and hit a child? Oh, and it's the law :-)
Having a dog off leash where they are safe is one thing, but walking down the street is another.
