he only eats a little bit here and there...from tugging...the sock(s) in question are still in place...and he does not have them unsupervised...and i ONLY let him play with them b/c he LOVES them more than ANY OTHER TOY....
one note....
he does not seem to break his necks up to well when chewing them....he does not chew up a piece here and there...he appears to pulverise them and then swallow the whole damn thing...i would cut them up, but that kind of ruins the chewing on bones part about keeping his teeth beautiful and white....he never "chokes" them down, or appears to have any difficulty with them before or after eating them...
Ah, gotcha.
Well, I guess I would probably treat him for regular diarrhea (fast for a day, being very careful to keep him hydrated and watching for signs of dehydration, such as paler gums; mouth might look dry; nose might look dry, then doing a soothing overcooked-rice-boiled-white-chicken-no-fat regimen for a day or two and see what happens), but only for a day, while planning to take him in on Monday unless it all firms up. The reason I am saying this is because of the possibility of obstruction.
If he shows any signs of dehydration (or even if he just isn't drinking well), or if it stays watery, then I'd take him to an e-vet and not wait for Monday.
Watery diarrhea is different from pudding diarrhea, and can be a sign of a problem that needs vet care.

is a good page to read.

thanks...i have read that page numerous times...
i just got home from work and took charlie out to poop and it was a yellowish (mustard like) liquid....even had mucous in it...looked like slightly mixed raw egg....has had no egg in 3 days....
i think that i am gonna go see the E vet in a few although his appearance is fine...
oh, and if this is an obstruction (due to a BONE) boy am i gonna get reamed by the wife....she is still very skeptical about the raw diet.....(darnit!)...and i will be even more concerned too, to be truthful.....

I would take him in asap, too.
I will say that I have known several dogs in my life who had an obstruction of one kind or another, and so far it has never been from a raw diet. That doesn't mean it can't happen, of course ... just as commercial pet food can kill dogs via organ failure and all diets can have pathogens (including kibble).

update:
went to the E-vet...boy are they proud of themselves....
i am not even in the door there good and they are reading the form i filled out shaking their heads (in reference to the RAW statement on "what is your dog's diet"...
i said "don't even get me started...."
the vet goes to the back to write me an estimate...it comes out to ~$500 WITHOUT and xray....the xray machine is down...(that is one reason that i went...to xray for an obstruction...)...the also wanted to sedate him ($60) and give him sub cutaneous fluids ($40)...i declined...
i told them CBC and other blood work and fecal flotation only..
well, they looked at him..he was fine (to the eye..)...bloodwork came back good...good levels of red and white blood cells...good phosphates...
the COULD NOT get a fecal sample...he had no poo...
that is it...they said keep and eye on him and go to the vet first thing monday...so i will...
i bypassed dinner for some chicken broth...
he drank 32oz of it...and a lot of water...
i will update when i get more info....

$500 for what?
About the fluid support -- did the vet think/say that he was dehydrated?
32 ounces of broth plus water.... that's good. You'll want to use low-sodium broth (which comes in a quart-size box). You can make it very easily, too, of course.
An e-vet with no x-ray machine.... .... yikes.
I don't like their sdvice. I think you need another vet, with an x-ray machine.

$500 for nada.....
$60 to walk in the door..
$100 for the blood work
$40 for fluids
$60 for anesthesia
$40 parvo
$18 fecal
$60 injections (whats this ????)
$30-50 for medication to be dispensed...
again, this is an estimate...did he need all that? i dunno...but i was not gonna pull out all the stops b/c i felt like ONE MAJOR STOP was missing...X RAY...
the vet said that he was slightly dehydrated...but not majorly...and had a little sensitivity in his bowel area when palpatated...
i may give him more broth..cuz he sucked it down earlier...are you guys heating it and then cooling it? i just poured it out of the 1qt container...
thanks for teh support and advice...

Room temp fluids are absorbed by the tissues fastest, so fine out of the box when it's first opened; I would warm it to room temp if it has been in the 'fridge.

I think that advice about rice gruel, etc., is for a dog with regular diet-related diarrhea, rather than a possible obstruction.
Did the e-vet you saw actually say to feed him today? I'd be giving him fluids only and looking for a vet with a working x-ray machine. JMO.
I would call and double-check with the vet you saw.
If I read all this right, there has been no formed BM since Thursday?

I'd at least be requesting a credit back for the fecal...like you said, No poop, so, why the bill???
Also, why the anesthesia with no x-rays??? Whats up with "injections" ??? Also, I know a lot of vets who actually waive the office visit charge if you actually have other things done (ie: blood work , etc) but then again, youre dealing with an e-vet, weekend, yadddda.
Hope things work out for your boy. Didn't read the entire thread, but did you *try* pumpkin? If you gave him rice, don't know that pumpkin would harm him...OTOH, if you are dealing with obstruction...jeepers. Good luck and keep us posted.
