Why with my lenses out? You will think it's funny, actually quite convenient too, but I can see close really well without them, sort of like a magnifier!
Me too, up close.
Check out whether it's as red as the picture looks, because it might be just inflammation.... but that picture looks like infection. Redness, red streaking, puffiness, tenderness, heat, drainage -- any or all of these can mean infection. A month is a long time to still see that kind of redness, which, if it was just inflammation from the wound's healing activity, should have been long gone. Even minor infection would have cleared up on its own by now if it was going to.
P.S. If he looks funny with one bootie on, wait'll he has one bootie and a cone-head.

Ok...I've got tears rolling down my face. I thought I heard every complaint about cones but this one gets THE prize.
(and if you tell me this was the pug I'm going to fall right off my chair)

Hee hee......she is obviously a handful.....what a cutie
I wonder if I can get my Mal to suction herself to the wall for like, hmmmmm, 15 minutes at a time so I can turn around without her tearing up a couch pillow.....those are her favorite.....

That EMT gel is not a primary wound cleaner, so you don't want to make that mistake and use it in place of your wound-wash or triple antibiotic, etc. It's more like a barrier, or a bleeding control aid and scar-tissue former, as I understand it. I heard a couple of guys in our club raving about it, specifically for pad wounds.
Of course you are right, that is why I said to try it if there is no infection or once the infection is gone. Or at least that is what I ment to say Sorry if I did not make that clear, one would not want to seal an infection in. Interesting that you have heard good things about it too.
On the collar suctioned to the wall, I almost fell off my chair laughing. The mental picture of your poor pooch was too much for me Glad you found something that works better!
I have been lucky enough not to have to use a collar yet, but i am sure there will be a day

Audrey you might also want to try a warm water soak as this both cleans off the area and can bring any infection to a head. After soaking dry the area with a blowdryer on low setting and bootie.

Oh, no, you weren't unclear at all. This was a new product (to me) and I was just saying what I had heard from experienced dog folks.

I agree with Connie about the vet appointment.
My Dutch goes in for surgery Tuesday to have his foot explored and worked on. He had a small scab and was limping a bit. I ended up getting a piece of "cheat grass" out of it and he seemed to get better, then he came up lame again. There is something in there that is not working it's way out, soooooo it is off to take it out.
Your dog may be having the same issue and it is not something you want to ignore or treat yourself.
I put this here so that I do not have to start a new post....PLUS....how is the sore on your dogs paw Aude???
Rock came through his surgery well. The vet had him completely knocked out and when he cut into the paw Rocks heart rate and respirations went up considerabley so he had to give him a bit more of the good stuff.
There was a thorn of some sort that had started to decomp in his foot as well as some old scar tissue, meaning that it had been in there for a while and was not obvious due to Rocks temperament.
Therefore, a strict regimine at my house now for checking feet. I had done it before, but will do it way more often now.
I did have a very "drunk" dog when I picked him up and brought him home. I did not want to leave him overnight as I did not want his seperation anxiety to surface and get the best of him. He had done well being alone in the kennel waiting for surgery in the morning and the vet was surprised at the progress we have made.
Jesea had her OFA's done and the vet said that they looked really good. But that it didn't really matter what he thought. I am taking his opinion as a good sign. We will do her hips and elbows again in November after she turns 24 months.
Now I just have to find a board certified Opthamologist to have her eyes done.
So all dogs are good, Rock is acting pathetic since he wants to play this morning and he cannot. Great, a pouting Dutchie.....
