We even started working on "sit". I don't think he made any real connections to the word the action and the reward, but he will. I don't think I can make the training sessions very long, because I don't want to over feed the little guy. It's probably better that way anyway (so he won't get board by long training sessions).
Hey, glad to hear you found a treat that motivates him! Thanks for updating.
BTW, have you checked out this article? http://leerburg.com/markers.htm
It talks about marking behaviors in your lil pup. It works like MAJIC! Hee hee. Seriously though, really aids in future true training sessions and helps to keep things fun. ALso, helps to keep you (and pup) focused on what you are doing...

Yes I have. Actually I just got done reading it for the second time (sometimes it takes a couple times through for me to catch everything and remember the concepts very well). We will start to use this method. I just wanted to find something that he would like so we could increase his comfort level with the marker.
I'm sure it's going to take some practice on my part and my wifes part (she will be doing all most all of the training, as Bear is really her pup) to get the timing and presentation correct.

I know a yorkie named Bear with a personality the size of, well, a grizzly! What a fitting name for a smart, lively little dog. Good choice.
