I've got the dogtra 1200 2 dog collar, the grid adapter is called the SCG-LBM adapter, easier on the dogs neck too.
Al, did you actually purchase the adaptor?
I purchased the adapter. I have taken a photo of what it looks like. The device is very small, I have not put it on my collar yet because I got rid of the one I had and I am waiting for the new one to come in. The picture link is below......

In my opinion this is a stupid idea. NO ONE needs to leave a remote collar on a dog 24 hours a day. Not unless they are too lazy to take a collar off.
We train with remote collars in our home and kennel. We believe in them - but this is a drop dead stupid idea.
For a collar to work it must be snug up under the jaw - no one is going to convince me that leaving this gadget on the dog for days on end is not going to cause skin problems. I don't care what the adds say - you leave this on the dog for days and its going to get sores worn in his neck.
This belongs on the dumb and dumber DOG PRODUCT SECTION - maybe I should start one.

Iwould hope noone would leave a collar on that long, I change to a differant collar everytime I interact with my dog. I was really looking for help with the prongs not making a good contact. I have the dogtra 1700 and it has the standard prongs (1/2" I believe) but my dog has short but thick fur and a little loose skin around his neck. The next option I was going with was either to try this adapter thing or get longer prongs. I'm thinking the 3/4" prongs. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Uhh yeah, My dog has a fairly light coat (choc Lab) and I don't leave that collar on her for more than a few hours (MAX MAX MAX) and I think that is too long but I am usually outside with here and I just plain forget about it??
If my G.F. leaves it on her for hours some times, (don't get me started on that can of worms..) and I can def. see some irritation below the contact points.
I guess that you are increasing the cross-sectional area of the points of cantact on the dog, but they are still loaded areas of contact with a fairly small area? Put some contacts on your watch and wear it for a day straight, not a good feeling??
I tried to find out online if the contact points are all "loaded" with a potential difference across the contacts?? Anybody know that?? Must wear out battery more if it does??
Ok, I agree bad idea...
Peace

Paige,
Have you gotten to try out the adapter yet?
I have not recieved the new collar yet. I do not think I will get the chance to try it out for about one more week (that's when the collar should get here).
From what I understand, the stim is distributed evenly across all contact points.
I do not plan on leaving the collar on my dogs neck for 24 hours either. I am looking for a better contact and a more stable stim level. After testing the prong type ecollar on myself, I question the stability of the stim level. My dog has no hair on the front side of his neck so this will work great.
The device is only $30.00, really can't go wrong.

If I am reading your statement correctly.. You want to have the same potential difference (voltage) across each of the contact points, right?? But if you are having problems with you collar now with delivering a predictable stimultion level, what makes you think that it would be any different with different contact points??
Jst a thought, anybody here know the insides of the collar.. Battery, capacitor combonation???

My situation is that I have a dog that has a short but thick coat and I'm thinking that the prongs on the collar are not making good contact. I know for sure the collar works, I was just curious about the adapter. But I'm leaning toward just getting the longer prongs anyway. The e-collar came with 1/2" so maybe the 5/8" or the 3/4"? Also, It gives me more time to train with the prong collar .

You can always shave a spot on the dogs neck and see if the collar works correctly before buying longer prongs to make sure the collar is working properly.

How long have you been using the E-collar? When I first started to use it I never had it on tight enough because I thought I was "choking" the dog??
Do you have teh video, if you are new to the collar??
Very good video, "i still reference it..
