I will ask the fellow who helps me train the two Pups, when he gets back home from his Judging stint in the USA this coming Thursday about the neutering and growth etc.
Although i have not got the Two Pups for Breeding unless they turn out Champions and also that there Bones were A1 i would never think about it, But they will remain Entire Dogs whatever happens, I sure would not have liked my bits chopped off
Steve,
There are real benefits to spaying and nuetering health wise. As much as it is a convenience for us. The age factor of when it is done is the key that no DVM's are willing to talk about.
For instantance, in Europe is it common to nueter before 6 months? Here in the US. it is the norm to nueter and spay earlier if the vet can talk one into believing they know best. And they do so willfully without a hint of regret.
Health wise though, spaying and nuetering does pay. Look into it.

Randy, I work for an animal hospital that has 5 dvm's on staff. Even tho I work in the grooming department when I get a chance I like to hang out and ask lots of questions in the treatment areas. The answer they give about altering dogs is to do it at six months. Unless they get an owner that is a serious competitor in something with their dog or who seems to be much more informed about health issues than the average owner. I think for John Q Public who at the best is a causual pet owner who's dog gets out of the house or back yard once a year it's just easier to say six months. Otherwise you just confuse them with more info than they can or are willing to comprehend.

Perhaps yourself Others or Ed can have a say in this as he and some others will surely know.
My concern with Neutering is that The Dogs may lose there Drive. And Fred has a Terrific Drive almost fanatical, and the signs are there that 5 month old Pup Goran has he is mad about his Obly ball
This is something that i do not want to stop or slow down,
I do know that our old Friend Charlie who died some months back, we had him Neutered at the age of seven years old, and he lived on happy another seven years afterwards. He Changed a bit in his ways and did not seem to have the same fire as before, But then he was a Pet and did no work,
In a way so are Fred and Goran but we hope to get them trained for ScHh work, if they do not make the grade then they will still be the same Dogs to us and live there lives out fully here
