Heh yeah his nickname is "Legs" I am getting some picts back soon but I will go out with my aunts digi cam tomorrow and make an album for him. He is just as leggy, but not so knobby now that his upward growth is mostly over with. But the rate he's been at, and being 26.5" and 8 months I expect him to get around 29 or 30" by a year old. He is only now starting to slow down a little.
I like Tollers, I never ever see them anywhere but I have always thought they were striking dogs. We had a book on NSDTRs at the pet store I worked at, I just wanted to pet the pages all the time

One of my collegues has a black lab/chessie cross, but it looks like a black lab crossed with a greyhound or elk with his long legs.
I think it was the cops that gave him his nickname "the LLB"
The Long Legged Bastard! He is a great search dog.
This is Duke when he was 15 weeks with my brother, Tom. Tom is his "real owner" but I rescued and have been training Duke. When Cajun was stolen I sort of made it so that Duke is half mine This was taken in Utah, at the salt flats. Duke was not impressed. I know Duke looks really tiny in this but my brother is 6' 4"
Here he is at 8 months - taken 1 month ago. I love his ears. They earned him the nickname of "Goofy"
P.S. He was measured today and stands at 27.5" at 9 months, weight estimated to be between 75 and 80. I think he's got another 2 inches or so before he's done and I estimate his adult weight at around 90-95 pounds. In one of the pictures you can see him running in the garden with my cousins old female rotti.. Missy is about 25" and weighs in at 95 pounds. For a size reference.
Wow, he's just what I imagined a GSD/dobe would look like. I really like his looks. I hope his training/socializing is going along well. Nice pics of the brother, too, haha
Haha I am not sure Saffron but I don't think you'd want one! He was the only one in the litter that looked like he does, the rest were solid black. I feel bad for the other people who might have rescued the pups as I think they would have had a very very difficult time with them.
The others were left there after I got Duke, I think the 2nd pup was caught at around 15 weeks and the others I am not sure - they might still be wild running around southeastern Wisconsin.
Angella his socialization is going really well We are still working on his acceptance of people at the house/home turf but I don't want him to lose all of his suspicion towards strangers and he is a very social boy on walks. If someone new comes around and we are not in sight at the time or in a back room when he hears a new vehicle at the front gates he will sound an alarm until we get there and then settles.
He is doing fairly well though he is a bit sharp and is territorial. His OB is fabulous and he is doing well on getting used to supermarkets and stores. He is not a PPD or a "true working dog" but he is a good boy and has come miles from where he used to be.
:-p Anybody else? Nobody has even commented on his ears yet. You guys are slackin!
WELL, I for one was anticipating a lot of response, so since I've had a busy week, I figured I'd leave the heavy compliments to others... but in their "slackage", I will say:
I thought Duke was a real stunner in the later pics. I wasn't sure about how he would turn out from the puppy pics (I know a little mixed breed that literally stayed a gangly looking puppy for her whole life - never grew out of her feet! But Duke is obviously maturing into a VERY balanced and lovely boy. I'm really taken with his coloring - very wild looking. I'm eager to see more pics when he's done filling out in a year or so... and knowing what a gift you have with dogs, I'm sure he'll be as amazing a companion as he is handsome!
Wow Natalaya, I was just expecting some comments on his funny ears and long legs - you just blew me out of the water.
Out of all the pups he was the only one with this wolf sable coloring - which I have learned is a combo of black agouti and the black and tan genes - his sire was a red/rust dobe, mom was dark black sable GSD.
I am just waiting for some consistently clear weather to have my bro take picts of Duke and I on our various daily activities and an OB session and in a store with his little blue vest on. It's winter in Oregon so we've had weeks of rain that don't make for good pics. Then you will be able to see just how big he really is!
Not sure about having a "gift" with dogs but thank you just the same! I feel very thankful and fortunate to have been able to gain the knowledge and experience I have so far in life and refuse to stop learning as long as I'm still kickin'
