Ya, ... If I decided to adopt, I'd have to decide soon since most rescues/shelters won't adopt to families w/young children.
Really??? Is that just in infamous Denver? I've never heard of such a thing. How nice to be told what you can and cannot do.
A working line pup is a crap shoot, however sometimes you just have to shoot craps. Boxers are cool . Whatever breed you get, socialize the heck out of it, especially with children.
Yeah Sandy, It's not all, but some shelters here won't adopt unless your kids are at least 10? I've read it before.
Well thank you ladies for your input. I'm going to *try* and wait and will probably shoot craps. There's some promising Boxer litters later this year. I wish I had a farm so I could have 10 dogs, but my limit is 2. I've never adopted before and thought that would be really cool, but if I want to help I can always donate more $ or volunteer.
Thanks Steve! Yeah Rotts are definitely in my top 3, but my brother in law will call me a copy-cat! Lol.. I think same reason he didn't go w/a Boxer which is what my sis wanted.
On another note, you guys w/multi-dog homes. How do you deal w/all the hair? I remember when I fostered a Boxer here and there, the amount of hair was bad. I know it's tough w/dogs, but I'm a clean freak. Are we just doomed to live in hair?
You can learn to ignore it until the wife cleans it up. We dont give the dogs free run of the house and the family room where they sleep has vinyl flooring with area rugs. That way it's only one room.

Yes.
ditto.
One day my husband and I were standing in line to get ice cream and we heard the couple behind us talking and giggleing. I turned around and looked at them, and the wife said "we're sorry, we were just trying to guess what kind of dog you had by the hair on your jacket"

A child will cure any and all perfectionist tendancies, Alex.

Buy clothes and furniture that match the color of your dog!!!
Nico will let me use the vaccuum hose on her..its funny.
Those grooming gloves with the rubber nubbies do wonder on short single coated breeds. If you have wood floors a swiffer is marvelous, but you can use microfiber clothes rather than the swiffer ones to cut down on waste and cost.
2 minutes a day with the swiffer cuts down dramatically on the hair issues.

Lol!! I will print this out and show it to her. I like both of your ideas Steve. I have hardwood floors, but I may have to see how I can limit my dog's area; especially for when I add the 2nd dog. We close all doors to bedrooms and other areas, but she does have free run. We're in CO and it get's cold here!
