Don't hesitate to change it up, Nora! When I'm too lazy to feed raw, my dogs love Innova. Any food on the Leerburg approved list should be your first choice. Have you considered dehydrated raw food, like The Honest Kitchen? A small bag hydrates up to something like 17 lbs of food, no mess, no blood, do small batches as you need it...great solution, especially for a Schipperke who will only get to be about 12 lbs anyway, it'll last him for a long while.
I really think the benefits to the dog are noticeable. Just something to consider.
I have heard of the food your pup came with, I believe it's a cut above Nutro and that lot, but I don't think it's at the level of an Innova type kibble.
Thanks for the reply, David. The dog food that came with her has similar protein, carbo, etc. percentages to the ones on this site. I will probably at some point in time go to the raw or freeze dried raw. All of this is so new to me. So many advances in dog health and training since the last one I had. My last dog died about 5 years ago (a boxer, died from age) but even then I was not giving her yearly vax and tried to feed her a more natural diet. I hadn't realized there was such a community out there with so much interest.
I think she is not poo'ing enough on this dog food and what I have read here is that a natural diet goes thru them quicker. I dunno'

Yes they digest raw diet quicker, but the most awesome thing besides the health benefits, is that they use almost all of it, so your dogs poop will be smaller, less or not even smelly and they do not go as often.
It is GRRREEAAATTTTT!!!!!

Thanks, Carol. I should have said that I don't think she is poo'ing OFTEN enough. The amount is probably OK, but she isn't frequent. Of course, I am still in housetraining and trying to figure out all that. But she just poos maybe once a day and sometimes twice since I have been serious training. She is 6-7 months

My dogs only go once or twice a day as well. Maybe more if we are working....seems Jesea and Marley go when they work and I think it is because they are all amped up.

I know!!!! Reigne won't go potty before we leave but poops several times during trainings and it gets loose when she gets over-exited ....ooogie!
