It is sad though isnt it? with the ending, I dont know if I can take it!
My dogs have pooped out an amazing variety of things, the most memorable being
the brand new box of crayons resulting in technicolor poop for a few days :O
and
The paper towel that was only partially pooped out and was dangling out almost touching the floor and not a bother at all.
I looked out the back window and he was running around playing with Loki totally normal with 6 inches of intact white paper towel hanging out of his butt.

someone carry me out on a stretcher, do yall realize how hilarious and strange this topic has gotten?
OOOOO, pile in the dog pile stories; we've all just been dying to get it out of our system...oops that sounds bad...
to talk about those experiences that burned into our memory but that no one wants us to share.

Im suprised Buster has lived through all the things he's eaten, but I know what happened to his brain!
He's eaten numerous branches...entirly. every chemical he can get his tongue on including, car grease (on tires etc) a bag of miracle grow (when he was 3 months old) bottles of shampoo, lotion, soap. he will lick lotion of your arms and legs...
I wont go into what each item looked like as it exited
The miracle grow was pretty fantastic though....

Kori,
How is Kodee Doing, is he feeling ok..I didnt mean to trivialize this thread, I know its scary when they ingest stuff!
and as for more digestion antics:
You should have heard the VetTech as she spewed coffee out her nose and laughed while she was trying to compose herself and console me.
I guess "Hi this is Jennifer Lee, Levis mom, and he is running around with a paper towel hanging out of his Ass" isnt your typical beginning to a phone call
Loki is my goat, he will eat anything and none of it seems to phase him. I dont know how he hasnt punctured something..sticks are a daily chew for all three of mine, They dont seem to be eating it just chomping it to smitherenes.
He once ate an entire jumbo bag of chex mix from sams
The beef tenderloin I bought for the Hubbies birthday and left on the counter to go start the grill, (the gate was up) he scarfed 6 lbs of tenderloin at once and in under 2 minutes!!!
Yesterday Fargo caught and ate a squirrel, it gave him rotten rotten gas and his poo was even stinkier, I am still enjoying that loveliness.

Kori,
I guess "Hi this is Jennifer Lee, Levis mom, and he is running around with a paper towel hanging out of his Ass" isnt your typical beginning to a phone call
OMG, Jennifer! I can't breathe, I am laughing too hard! I'm glad i wasn't drinking any coffee....
So far Kodee is his normal, rotten, obnoxious self. He dootied (sp? - is "dooty" a word?) after dinner, but no plastic baggie yet. But I think maybe he passed the turd that he ate. ROFLMAO! Then he was driving me nuts, jumping up in my face with his ball in his mouth (his breath is fresh as a daisy, let me tell you) while I was trying to type, so I had to crate him. He apparently is feeling no pain. But I am waiting with bated breath (which is better than turd breath, IMO) to find out what his poo looks like in the a.m. Man, have I sunk so low to look forward to my dog pooping out a plastic bag, so I can sleep at night? I was hoping he'd do it after dinner so I could sleep without keeping one eye open on him all night, watching for "signs of distress...". LOL!

Kori, you might even have to wait a little longer. I have waited up to 36 hours to see foreign objects pass through Chula's digestive system (she was pooping normally during this time, just took that long to see the goodie come out). (let's see...small purple rubber frog, red lego piece, and fur from a dead rat (road kill) would be the most memorable!)

It would take about 2 days or more to come out.
My dogs have also eaten a variety of things. If I know they have eaten it, I always make them throw up because intestines are much smaller than the stomach and if something does get stuck, it means surgery (and possibly even death if you're not careful). Plastic does not break down in the gut. I figure it is much easier to make them throw it up than "wait and see" if they become sick/lethargic/impacted (why put them through that), risk the complications (and money) of surgery. Too much of a crap shoot if you ask me (no pun intended). I don't like to play around with things like this.
Just about 3 weeks ago I had a dog suddenly become very ill. He had swallowed something and I did not know it. It was lodged in his stomach and this dog was miserable. Lethargic, nauseous, vomiting. he is my foster dog and the breed rescue can't afford surgery. The vet gave him some medication and he did pass the object, but if he didn't pass it he would have to have been put down. Very scary!!!
So yes, 99% of the time dogs can pass the strangest items but for me it is all about the 1% of the time they can't.
I hope Kodee is doing OK and I'm very hopeful the baggie will come out.

Luckily If I see them putting something in their mouth I can usually retrieve it before it goes down
I have shoved my hand pretty far in there to grab stuff.
Risky I know but I'd rather get bit than have to do a $2000 Towelectomy.
I actually made Loki throw up not that long ago trying to get a super ball out of his mouth. That was not pleasant for either one of us but he was hell bent on ingesting it.
Once when levi was about 5 or 6 months old we took him camping and he was lethargic the whole weekend, at first I thought it was the heat getting to him but by the end of the weekend I was getting very worried.
The last night he threw up two intact kid sized socks, It had been 5 days since he would have had access to kid socks.
We were lucky that time and it scared me to death.
The dumb dog tried to gobble them right back up too!

I will definitely shove my hand down there to get whatever he's swallowing, and have. It's when they sneak around behind your back (the little thieves) and you don't even know they've eaten something.
Unfortunately my dog has a fabric fetish. I'm thinking it's probably cause of the 2 vaccinations he got - another subject. But I will say that in the last 3 weeks, he has started carrying around my son's old t-shirt, that he gave to him, and has not tried to rip, eat or swallow the thing, and knowing his fabric fetish from the time he was a 3 month old pup, I am truly amazed.
