I agree with Todd, But the big question is who will be the ALPHA in this household??
Lyn, 2 hours is not a long time to be crated. I'm not talking about a small crate but a large enough crate that will be used when the pup is an adult. The large crate when a pup, is usually to big, close off part of the crate. The pup being in a smaller area will learn control of it's bowel movements. It will not want to lay in it's on mess.
Have you been Training the pup to go outside.?
Lyn, you need to read some of the previous post on raising pups, alot of good info.
i didn't say and don't think that 2 hours is too long to crate a pup... i said that i am often away all day long... 7 hours or more. that's too long. this dog would be laying in his own extrement for sure. right now he is about 14 weeks old. i am training him to go outside, primarily. he pees on command when i take him out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> , but he will still pee on the floor if he isn't closely watched. in other words, he hasn't learned yet to 'ask' to go outside, but he is starting to catch on. he only goes into the sun room on the papers when we have to leave the house. i don't have anything against crating per se, but don't feel any particular need to do so under the current arrangement. also, 'learning to control his bowels' is largely a function of neurological development for a dog this young. he ain't there yet.
