i would definately report that, asap.
i know it's hard for you, and you are likely still reeling over what happened. take time to process this, but don't wait too long to report it either.

I have a headache. I don't know whether or not I should file a report just to have it on file - I don't want to press charges or anything.
Edit: Teagan is fine, which is good, given how much all of this is already costing me.
Teagan!

I'm not sure if/how things are different in Canada than here, but I would report it, just to have it on file. You never know if he's going to be an ass, and try to come back later claiming further damages to his dog, or anything. I'd get a report just to be sure, especially if he left any marks on you (not sure if he did?)

Holy Cow.
The owner turned and hit you?!!?
I just cannot fathom how anyone could lose his head and start attacking another person, unless HIS life is in peril.
What finally made him stop? Did you fend yourself, or did the bus driver said something to your attacker? Were you badly hurt?
People are SO demented sometimes!
I am glad you are OK and your dog is OK.
Lesson learned. Don't mope over it. It was purely an accident and you know now what has to be done to ensure your dog's best interest.
So sorry to hear about this incident. Oh and carry pepper spray to avoid such assaults again.

I'd report it. In the event that he tries to get your dog put down for the attack, you can counter with the assault on you - this would at least make it seem there may have been more involved. Since you were preoccupied, there is no way of knowing, but for all you know your dog went after the GUY and his dog attacked YOURS.
I'm not saying don't take responsibility, just that there really is very little way of knowing what actually went on between the dogs, why your dog did it, etc. Him hitting you is HORRIBLE and he should go to jail or at least have a fine. That is WRONG. The fact that he started assaulting you leads me to wonder if there may be more to this story. That is very out of the ordinary and VERY out of line.
Yes, the dog should never have charged, but you already know that. Paying the vet bill was very honorable, as is taking responsibility. Filing charges will at least help you to protect your dog in the event that this guy tries to have him put down.

Or, his dog rushed your dog from the beginning and started the whole thing. Teagan could be perfectly innocent as well. No way of knowing, as it's your word vs his. But I'd press the assault issue, definately...

I was thinking the same thing too, Cameron. And you do raise good points.
Based on speculation, Jennifer might have tried to convince the man to stop kicking her dog after she had stopped attacking the little dog, and he might have swung around in blind anger. I know I would be heart sick but if I see that my dog is no longer a danger, I would certainly try to dissuade the other owner from hurting her.
But blind anger or not, it is still not a reason or excuse to hit another person - man or woman.

I'm just one more voice here, but I'd report the guy also.
You did the honorable thing by paying the vet bills of the other dog, but for the pea-brained owner to strike you? Nope, say hello to Mr. Policeman....

File a report.
As a woman, and as a MP, I'm strongly suggesting you file a report. I can wait until tomorrow, and you can make it by phone, but FILE.
