I believe I said, “After the puppy understands the game enough to “bite and swing”
Well I never said you should not play prey/play gages with your dog. You can build prey without conflict potential. At some point (sooner the better) the dog needs to learn the helper is the most fun. I included a way of reducing the pressure of the imposing influence of a helper by using a rope and having some distance between him and the puppy of 9 months. In short time the dog will learn to focus for bites for the bite by helper conditioning. Since confidence is seen in the bite by grip and depth a puppy can be brought up gradually with helpers to reach that goal even before 9 months for most dogs.
I think it is better to keep bite work in context and build owner prey games at home off the field for fun and teaching the dog specifically bite work/w helper is something to look forward to and there is nothing to fear from the “play guy.” A calm full bite is the end result if done correctly.
Playing with you and playing with a helper is not the same thing in a dogs mind. While you can teach the game once the game is known it is time to move on to bigger games or risk trainer conflict assuming you are doing other training and the dog is learning to obey at a higher level.

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. - Edward Hoagland
