We have a 6 month old Rottie who we are so pleased with. We have him in an obediance class ( only 2 classes into it right now) and he picks up all the commands before the hour long class is even over. His personality is the best of any dog that we have ever had. He absolutely loves anyone that he meets regardless whether we come to their house or they come to ours. He patiently sits and waits for his food, ect.....just a sweetheart. Except for one problem. Every now and then if we tell him no and he persists to do something and we correct him and he doesn't get his way he will sit there and growl and grumble and mouth on you...no biting what so ever. Sometimes he gets so loud it is almost like a scream. Once you show him who is boss and that he is not the alpha then he will get up and go do something else. Is there a better way to correct this other than what we are doing? I don't want this to become a big behaviour problem later in life. Thanks for any help

Rottweilers are very vocal when it comes to grumbles. The fact you have your dog in obedience is very promising and you will see that rotts are very smart animals, almost scary smart sometimes.
The main thing that worries me about your dog grumbling is that he is mouthing you too at the same time. You should never ever feel your dogs teeth on your skin for any reason, even if he isn't clamping down and crushing your arm with a real bite.
When you say you show the dog you are alpha what do you do? Do you give the dog an obedience command and make him comply? Do you roll him on his back and stare in his eyes? Just what exactly are you doing now to reassure your dominance over your dog?
Nip this in the bud now while the dog is only 6 months old. Now when I say nip this in the bud don't be paranoid about your dog grumbling once in a while, some rotts do it till the day they die. Just don't take any mouthing from your dog or one day it will turn into a real bite, and believe me, you don't want that from a rottweiler!!!!!
