Although majority of patients with Lupus do have positive ANA, ANA is not Lupus-specific. Patient with rheumatoid arthritis could have joint swelling and positive ANA as well.
I am not sure if there are vets that specialize in rheumatology, but if so, maybe you can ask your regular vet to refer you to one.
Vet said yesterday (after getting through to the lab to confirm the comment on the results--tech said it was a random thought, not really having anything to do with the case?) 'we'll call it lupus at this point and start her on steroids on Friday'. (I will do so but we are going to see the natural medicine vet as well.)
Yesterday was her first day since May/June without Metacam/Meloxicam. She seemed find after the initial stiffness she showed in the morning...and slept WITHOUT snoring last night! Normally she snores so loudly I have to escort her from our bedroom. She seems plenty active today and not in obvious pain.
