I mix cream cheese or peanut butter with yougurt & kibble.
I think that straight cream cheese & peanut butter would be a bit too rich for my dog, so I prefer to dilute that richness with some all natural plain yougurt. I mix up some ahead of time and keep it in the fridge. Then I will put some of that mixture in a bowl, throw in a handful or kibble or other treat, mix, fill kong and freeze.
If I want it to last him more than 20 minutes I omit the kibble and just use the yogurt mixture.
ps i put his kong in the dishwasher too.

My daughter and son-in-law come for dinner once a week. My daughter takes the kong and jam packs it full of peanut butter. Hans is just beside himself waiting for her to finish. He lays down or sits down and wags his tale and whines and whimpers while he waits for her to fill it.
Once she has it filled he jumps up and runs to his "place", a spot near the front door, and waits for her to bring it to him.
It keeps him busy for some time. The entertainment value for us comes from watching his tongue go in and out of his mouth as he tries to get all the peanut butter off the roof of his mouth.
My daughter packs the kong completely full, then packs some more in. My wife and I have decided that she gives him a weeks worth of peanut butter in that one sitting, so we don't give him any in between her visits.
Some of the ideas I've read here sound interesting. I might suggest to my daughter that she hide a few of his liver biscotti treats in the kong next time she fills it.

I've packed all sorts of bizarre foodstuffs into Danke's Kong.
Chopped hotdogs and Simon&Huey's treats, blocked in with a lattice of cheese sticks wedged into the top of the Kong is a favorite.

Yes, except that I use this: http://leerburg.com/1146.htm
I've used THK as "glue," too.
I almost always freeze it with whatever it is in there.
If not, then I just smear stuff around the insides instead of filling it with something that will take 11 seconds to eat.

hmm I didn't think of frozen yogurt! lol that makes complete sense though. I usually let the dogs lick the inside of my yogurt containers when I'm done I know all that sugar is bad for them but there's usually not very much left and they seem to enjoy it so much. I'll try the plain mixed with some cream cheese and kibble or leftover meat. That should keep Jake busy for a while!
Thanks for all the other ideas, too! I'll try them and see what he likes the best.
eta: Connie- I use the kongs and the everlasting treat ball, too. The treat ball seems to be super hardy! plus it bounces in weird directions so it's one of jake's favorites.

Carolyn,
I don't use normal yogurt.
In the post i put that I use all natural plain yogurt as part of the "glue" in the kong mix.
just wanted to clarify that I don't use normal fruit flavored yogurt.
And i want to say again that before packing a kong super tight, make sure that little air hole in the other end isn't blocked with a piece of kibble or packed with peanut butter.
That opening is what prevents the Kong from getting suctioned on the dogs tongue.
I've had it happen with my other dog, luckily I was right there to remove it. I think there was something in the news about a dog that has his tongue stuck in a toy because the air hole on one end was blocked and he couldn't remove the toy on his own, in the end he had to have his tongue amputated.
Just a heads up!

It's cool-- I understood about plain unsweetened/flavored yogurt. That's why I was a tad embarrassed to admit letting them have a few licks from the empty container of the fruit kind
Thanks for the additional note warning about suctioning. I read the post about that other toy; probably wouldn't have made the connection so I'm glad you mentioned it!

I make raw meatballs that are quite a bit larger than the hole in the Kong and then freeze them.
Big enough that I have to put most of my weight on it to get it to pop in.
