I asked about gelcaps because the dose is way too small for big dogs.*
If you are stuck with them, just know to get liquid next time.
The dose for a 100-pound dog is about 10 gelcaps of the 1,000 (1 gram) size, which you can lead up to for three or four days.
*This also means that while you were giving fish LIVER oil, IMO not a good choice because of certain vitamin toxicity possibilities at therapeutic doses, you were giving an amount that would hardly be noticed by the system of a 100-pound dog.

I think the tummy upset would probably be towards humans since its sold for humans-most dogs do fine with it- hopefully the natural vet will give you some advice and hopefully Connie will respond here too- she is very knowledgable and would beable to help you with proper dosing- I would want to be pretty sure on the dosing because of the lupus-

The dose I use is 1 gram of fish oil per ten pounds of dog.
1 gram is 1,000 mg.
1 teaspoon is 4 3/4 grams.
The Grizzly directions, last time I checked, were very close to this and good directions, IMO.
Wild salmon is one of the low-mercury larger fish, and the tiny fish are of course also low in mercury (and actually I mean all heavy metals). No farmed fish that I know of is a good choice.
The brand the O.P. is talking about is molecularly distilled, with any heavy metal left behind, AND is made from very low-metal fish to start with.

Yikes. TEN? Oh yes, I'll be calling around today for the liquid. Good thing this dog will eat anything you put in front of her.
Your comment about metals etc in this product: are you saying this stuff is no good? I'm so confused, ha ha. I really want to learn so please, explain. Sure is alot more to this than "hey pooch, here's some salmon oil".

I think you'll find that the dog will treat them (and the E-caps) like wonderful caviar.
You could give a couple today and see. Then if that's fine (and I feel pretty sure it will be), 4 tomorrow, etc.

No metals in your oil. Ya did good to get distilled. Connie is saying that. Also saying get liquid pump or pour because your dog is a big dog. (mine are small)
***shouldn't speak for Connie...but am going to let post stand.

Ahhh, I see. OK. I didn't actually do "good", ha ha. It just so happened that my sister chose it because it was the same price as the generic brand (plus said no additives etc), and then it scanned up the wrong price so we also got $10.00 off. I love when that happens.
I called around and the oil in a pump is available, I'll get that next time.

I just gave her two capsules--after puncturing them with a fork and getting it all over my hands. All the dogs want to be my friend this morning, I wonder why?
Even my parent's Dachshunds (AKA devil dogs from hell) are sitting at my feet, staring, making me feel very nervous. Because, I swear, if they tripped me and I fell, they'd eat the meat off my fingers, there is no doubt about it. (Nah, they are actually very well behaved when my parents aren't around, typical kids. My husband thinks I drug them when we dog sit...I maintain that I do not and I'm sticking to that story.
