I would just like to point out (for those who don't understand what he's talking about) that male dogs have bones in their penis's. One false move from the bitch and that boys ding dong is broken.
Huh? Are you sure?
Yes. The baculum.

I remember hearing a radio interview a while back with the curator of the Icelandic Phallological Museum - a museum devoted entirely to penises (currently all animal specimens, though a local human has offered to donate his "bits" after his death). Since so many species do have a baculum, you can preserve that anatomy as a skeletal specimen, without jars of formaldehyde (thought there are certainly lots of pickled fleshy bits in this museum).

There are also some creative jewelers out there making necklace pendants out of small mammal baculum bones and castings... actually not a new idea, these bones have been used as "love charms" for centuries.

Hope I didn't hijack this thread... it seemed to be tinged with humor from the start.

I knew a breeder of Dobes and before ejaculation to get the sperm he would call it 'Dobe-a-bones'

I mentioned this on another thread and didn't want to jack a thread so in answer to some queries, my tale of misery:
I have two intact females that I may breed and a male I had neutered when he was two, I figured if he had no bullets he won't go shooting. That was a mistake, He tied with one of my females when she came into heat and got his plumbing stuck outside his sheath. I rushed him to the ER and they wanted to amputate, I was opposed to that and wanted to wait until it was absolutely necessary. The Dr told me the after care would require that I pull the sheath back three times a day and clean the member, I said I would. So they put everything back where it was suppose to go and installed a catheter and kept him for observation. He's a very poor patient and anytime a Vet tech got near him he would try to bite them so I took some FMLA and stayed with him, I even re inserted the catheter and gave some shots and did all the feeding. I ended his home treatment when it appeared he was enjoying it way too much.
I think the vet was needing to make his car payment.
I would second Betty's "Amputate?"
I've had males in this condition and managed to correct the situation myself, usually in just one day, all without the ER, catheters, shots, amputation, or oft repeated embarrassing digital manipulations.
Next time just pull the sheath back down and let the dog clean himself.
