Warm. . .Fuzzy. . . FEELINGS?
I am devoid of such weakness.
But, I do have a little story.
My 3.5 year old son has a speach problem (he's fine, he talkes more every day). My GSD Uher was a very strange and very hard Czech import (not what I would consider friendly, but would have rare moments of fun with the kids), but starting at about 2 years old my son would try to give him commands from watching me do it. He could not form the sounds to say the words, nor did the dog pay him one iota of attention. Until. . .
All of us were sitting in the living room just hanging out. Nik was sitting in front of Uher and was feeding him Cherrios (teasing him really). Uher got sick of the game and got up to leave. Nik stood up pointed to the ground and said "laaaaa" in a deep tone for a toddler. BAM, Uher hit the ground.
What? No training, no history of me trying to have the dog respond to the boy, nothing. . .
My wife, who has never liked the GSDs much or the idea of them around the kids, jumps up in astonishment. "Robert, the dog can understand him. Did you hear that? How does he know? I couldn't make out what he said. What a good dog. . ." From then on Uher would often do sits and downs for Nik, with some practice (and hours of training from me). It was a great motivator for practicing speach, and interacting with the other GSDs (who live in the kennels). My wife fell in love with that dog and has been super involved with the others for the last year and a half. It was like a great moment in our household. Hard to explain what that felt like.
Now, do you think that I ever said to my dear wife, "Honey, he just wants a Cherrio and is conditioned to do obedience to get rewards, next he would have rolled over without a command at all", or any other realistic reasons for what happened?
HELL NO!
I said "THAT WAS AMAZING, THE DOG MUST SPEAK BABY OR SOMETHING! I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN MY LIFE. HONEY, HE CAN UNDERSTAND NIK!!!"
lol
(It went something like that.)

Van Camp--
I hope you weren't kidding about THAT. That was great! (even if it makes some of us suspect that you actually do have feelings.... )

Well my hubby tolerates the dogs. He was kinda sorta okay when we had 1, but then Mom got one and I ended up with him most of the time and then our little family just continued to grow, Now that we have 7, I am only "allowed" to keep 2 inside (He didn't say it had to be the same 2. And no not all of my shepherds work. Hubby has NEVER been to training with me in the 2 years I've been going, but he does remember to ask about how they did every once in a while. I have however "busted" him showing off MY dogs to his friends and claiming them as "ours". He enjoys bragging about them but doesn't want to be involved in any of the "grunt" work. Oh well it's okay I guess cuz the dogs don't mind him worth sh** and he'll get to yelling and cussing at one of 'em so I'll get up off my tush and walk over to where he is standing. 'Calmly and in a happy tone,' say "Dixxie, Come..." and just like magic here she comes. Pisses him off to no end. God I love it

Dogma is about as sharp as a marble.
Not the brightest crayon in the box.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
A few dogs short of a pack. ( )
Always last place in the smart line.
More than a few sheep short of a flock.
Not quite all that she could be.
Wait, check that, worse- she is all she can be.
Smooth as sandpaper.
Cool like Arizona asphalt.
If she were only A FEW cards short of a deck, that would have to be one short deck.
Dogma is like a car without an engine, a bike without a chain, a dog without legs, a dry snail, a fish outa water, a fly in the ointment, or a plane with monkeys in the cockpit. . . In other words, going nowhere fast.
Feelings, I have feelings, humorous ones. I'm laughing right now, at you.
Now remember YOU started it. . .
I kill myself.

Well, I'm not married yet but I will make sure that whom ever I marry does like dogs, cause my dogs aren't going no where. I have three and the three live in the house with me and will continue to until the day they part from this life.

I hear you, single one...
I have just about given up on the "getting married" idea.. Maybe Ed should set up a Dog People looking for Dog People section on the board.
SWF-24-blonde- comes complete with GSD, Giant Schnauzer, 22 acres(12 pasture/10 wooded) 60x120 indoor riding arena, no horses.... can you say perfect dog set up?...
Desires man with ability to build things and deal with dominant female.

Please send Photo and Pedigree of dogs
See Vancamp's disclaimer before responding
