I was combining the "complete and balanced, feed one food and one food only" mindset with the "variety" mind set and got my wires crossed.
I didn't see any problem with the "incomplete", original formula because I was taking into consideration feeding it with the other formulas, and possibly RMB's, too. This, variety, has already been mentioned.
Sorry for any confusion.

Edit reason: It always helps to express my complete thought out loud, and not keep it to myself. :)

Is the "Original" the one you use?
Yes, I use the Original formula.
As I understand it, an AAFCO "complete" diet needs no additional supplementation. It has everything your dog needs. Nature's Variety is a complete diet and Bravo's new Balance line is also a complete diet. Stella & Chewey's may be another one.
And if I remember my Whole Dog Journal correctly, many pre-made raw diets are not complete...you do need to supplement. Sandy Moore found that out when Lear was a pup and she was giving him Oma's Pride. It's incomplete and she was ticked off and worried that he may have been missing something essential while he was growing.
Personally, I prefer the incomplete diets so I can control the supplements and add-ins myself.

Right... thank you! I thought there was one that met AAFCO guidelines and a few that did not.
OMG, just looked up this product. I can't believe how expensive it is. I would be paying over $500 a month on this compared to $50 for one dog on home prepared raw. YIKES

I recently bought this grinder and love it. I'm feeding 180 pounds of meat a month, so this is a much better option for me than buying a pre-ground product.
Yes the Original Formula. The site said 14 lbs of food a week, so at Petfooddirect, it was $582.27 for 55 lbs (40, 10, 5 lbs tube on order). Maybe I should start a business

I am envious. Mike Armstrong (on this board) also makes use of a grinder, and I would too. It would greatly increase my variety options. What kind of bone will it manage? Rib, or what?
Well, you must have a big dog. I would get it for both dogs (total of 36 plus 25 lbs = 61 lbs), 11 lbs a week, and it would cost me..... 483.00...dang!
