I have gradually got Lucy (rescue who had severe Giardia) eating raw meat -- no bones yet.
I plan on feeding her one of the Honest Kitchen Brands -- either Thrive or Force as it has 1/2 the fat as Thrive and may be easier on her digestive tract.
She does have some intestinal damage or inflammation due to the Giardia. Very loose stools when stressed, still a little gassy, etc. I have been giving her probiotics since her antibiotic regimen and she is doing much better with her "poops".
Any suggestions for adding to the HK so I can cut the HK servings in half and save money AND protect intestines from working hard?
I may not give her bones at first. I am taking her tummy very slowly!
What else are you feeding other than meat right now? Just meat alone could make for a loose stool, gassy dog.
Also, I don't really consider bones, especially softer ones like chicken backs, really all that hard on a dogs stomach. Not any harder than any other new, foreign to the dog, food.
Either way, you can add any meat or RMB to Honest Kitchen that you would like.
THK gives directions on how to add meat or RMB's to the food.
Sounds like you're doing a good job taking care of this girl. I would try adding more bones and a couple tablespoons canned pumpkin. IME meat alone for several meals can make for some pretty loose poop.
What a cute face she has!! Glad she's doing better. Giardia is no fun.

Edit reason: add something
Sorry for the misconception. Lucy eats kibble -- high quality kibble -- and has meat (small pieces) in the evening while I am cooking. She is handling the meat well. Her poops definitely appear better with red meat added to diet as well as high quality probiotics.
HK-- I was hoping I could cut the serving in half, in that Lucy would eat 2/3 c of HK, so I would use 1/3 c HK and 1/3 c meat.
Oh yes, chicken backs or necks I would consider giving her after moving her to a meat only diet on the HK, but no other bones. I don't know how much damage the Giardia cysts have done to her intestines.

I've heard of slippery elm and aloe water to help with delicate tummy...im actually using it on my boxer and it seems to work
Thanks. I think the Health Food Store has both.

What about using ground RMBs? This is what I have to do with my German Shepherd who has EPI (digestive disorder). I can buy all sorts of stuff that is ground and she doesn't have any trouble with it. Oma's Pride, Bravo and others offer this type of product.
That is a thought. I am a worrywort with Lucy. Hambone...he grew up eating mice, rabbit, and squirrel, and deer -- as well as kibble. He has a solid stomach. (He's my big strong boy!)
